Spectrolite, LabradoriteSpectrolite is a form of Plagioclase feldspar which refracts light such that you get a rainbow of colors from the stone. Labradorite is named after Labrador, Canada, and is the general name for this material. However, the material from Finland (and also from Hidra in Norway) have a black base with rainbow colors. This material is called 'Spectrolite'. I have material from both Norway and Finland, as well as they more plentiful, lighter based Madagasgar Labradorite. |
